15 Reasons We’re Thankful For Text Messaging
At OneReach, we eat, sleep and breathe text messaging. And with the most thankful time of the year upon us, I decided to ask around the office and see why people were thankful for SMS. Some answers were funny, some were practical, but all of them acknowledged the importance of this powerfully personal channel.
Check out what people had to say.
- I don’t want to have to navigate IVRs and phone trees, especially because I have to repeat myself whenever it prompts me.
- I’m glad that I don’t have to talk or wait.
- I don’t having to listen to questions from my mother.
- I can respond on my own time, and when I want to.
- I don’t have to go and knock on someone’s door when I’m waiting to pick someone up outside.
- Texting makes it easy to stay in touch with family and friends while letting them respond when it’s convenient for them.
- You can put emoticons in there. Who doesn’t like emoticons? 🙂
- I’m thankful to not have to answer awkward phone calls.
- I don’t have to say “Hello” “Goodbye” and “See you later” when all I need to know is what time I’m getting picked up.
- I like not having to remember things–my wife can just text me the things she needs/
- I’m thankful to get to see pictures of cute things my kids do (while I’m in a meeting and I don’t want to pay attention).
- I’m thankful to be able to make my friends and family laugh or smile with a simple inside joke, text, or picture.
- I like that texting forces people to get to the point.
- I’m thankful for being able to communicate in a non-intrusive and non-disruptive way at anytime. Text message responses can be delayed but are still relavent to a conversation when they arrive.
- Texting lets me keep in touch with friends and family in a way that’s quick and easy.
